Uses and Audience- V

SMA Feature Film example- Wallace and Gromit  The SMA film example I have chosen the family favourite, Wallace and Grommet. This film is a Claymation animation feature film, made by the SMA experts, Aardman and the director Nick Park. The target audience for this film is children, although its proven to be a massive hit with all ages. Aardman and Nick Park, also produced Chicken Ru, which is also a Claymation animation and also had huge success, not only with its target audience but with all ages. Aardman capture real life in their models, and to this is why its a huge film, which has later expanded to more films about Wallace and Gromit.  Their models are made from varies materials, although mainly plastacine, but they just capture facial expression, the characters clothing, and the characters personality perfectly.  SMA Advert example- Sainsbury's Christmas Advert  The SMA advert example I have chosen is the Sainsbury's Christmas ...

Anamanic Video, pre production experiment

I have made a pre look video using my storyboards, to see what the process would be like for my stop motion animation video.

History of the delopment of animation- X

Early Pioneers ' a person who is among those who first enter or settle a region, thus opening it for occupation and development by others. 2. one who is first or among the earliest in any field of inquiry, enterprise, or progress'- http://www.dictionary.com/browse/pioneers Joseph  Plateau Joseph  Plateau was a Belgian physicist, who was one of the first people to demonstrate the illusion of a moving image. To do this he used disks that rotated, and on the disks were repeated drawn small images, the images were spaced out and prosily drawn to fine detail. with the motion of the spin, the images would look like they were moving. Joseph names the device of 1832 the phenakistiscope. William Horner  William Horner was an extremely famous pioneer who first discovered the Zoetrope. The zoetrope is often referenced as being the beginning of animation.  William Horner’s introduction of the zoetrope in 1834. just 2 years after the Phenakistiscope. Both device...

Editing Footage, Titles and Credits to a Soundtrack using video and sound software- T

Editors are usually involved in the planning stages of a stop motion animated film, compared to a life action film because they're is a lot of pre planning that goes on before the film is even in motion to be filmed. Animated films are storyboarded to every last shot, movement and angle, so its vital the editors are included in with the pre production, not just the post production. Live action films are shot scene by scene and animated films are filmed shot by shot. Animated shots all cost money, so its vital to keep cost down that each shot is perfect, so shots are not wasted. the editor collaborates with the director, and works out in detail the shots within each sequence, so that imminently very few shots are undertaken , that are not featured in the finale film.  An editor works along side the director and producer, where they produce a script and storyboard. After when they feel the storyboards and the scripts perfect and are ready for 'reels', and ani...

Audio production for animation, e.g musicals score, sound effects and voice overs- S

Above I have embedded two featurettes of the SMA film Coraline, which give me a better insight to the audio production for the animated film. Having 250 people working on the character Coraline only, the producer Henry took exactly what was written in the book, brought it alight.  before filming started, they recorded the voices of the characters first so that they knew what the mouth position should be like. One of the directors also said 'Often the harder shots are the ones that don't have dialogue, because yo have to create the emotion and tension with filming and just the positioning of the characters'. This just show how much the Audio and the sound track is vital to a film.
