experimentation with character designs – you should consider the use of archetypes, stereotypes and contrast between characters- C

my first idea includes two main characters. one male, one female male and it is about how their life changes. the image of the character will change drastically over time, not only will they be aging but the different outfits, such as in a wedding dress and with a baby bump. I want it to start as if the man they have just both walked into a box, which is in the sky and there life is all planned out.  For the song I have choice I think my characters are quite stereotypical, but I think it will work well. although I would like to experiment with some character ideas. the overall look of the characters I want them to be one block colour and only have a few features to reliable the sex. such as female and male features, as a beard or long hair.

Woman Character 1 - Long hair, with smallish frame body. female curves and distinctive facial features.

Woman Character 2- Short hair, and quite old looking. although I want the couple to gone through life, showing them getting married and having a baby. the baby would be added feature of the woman character.

Male Character 1- I want him t be taller than the woman and to have dark hair. I know this is very stereotypical but I think it will look the best and be the easiest for me to make.

Male Character 2- the other male character would just have male facial features and be easily identified as the male character.

the material I will be using to create my character will be plastacine. this will be time consuming but I personally think its the best material to use. the product I bought was from amazon and cost £14.99, in the pack you get a number of different colours. this is brilliant because I can experiment with skin tone and different colour facial features.

I have chosen the character designs I want to make and use in my video. The male Character being the 2nd drawing, in the middle.
The male character is quite plan looking, and has no real outstanding facial features. although I think could work in his favour, as he wont look quite so 'weird' and will a bit more natural. the drawn pictures are without colour, but the models will be made will colour plastacine. I would like for his trousers to be blue, and to have a yellow shirt on, and for his hair to be brown.

I have chosen the 1st character on my female design page. I think she looks the most simple but effective, I also believe I can make her quite easily and she will remain the same throughout the video. its vital that my characters maintain the same throughout the video, and don't break. because this will muck up the video, it will not maintain continuity.
My female character has a tight blue dress, with a high neckline. I think this looks in date and in fashion, so hopefully this will appeal to my target audience. the character will have brown hair to match her partner, as I think  this will look better if they match. she will also have a yellow belt, to just break up the dress a bit.
